CA Automobile Accident: 10-car crash on PCH killed 3 in Newport Beach

Newport Beach, CA—A massive 10-car pile-up in Newport Beach killed three people on Saturday, January 15, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred Pacific Coast Highway and Riverside Avenue just before 3 p.m., as reported by ABC7.

Police officers reported that a speeding Ford Taurus slammed into a pickup truck, before going airborne and hitting several other cars and a motorcycle. Ten vehicles in all were involved in the wreck.

Julia Allen, 27, of Newport Beach, was identified as the driver of the Taurus. Allen was killed in the wreck.

Two other people, identified as Christopher De La Cruz, 49, of Laguna Niguel and Linda Burnett, 69, of Santa Ana, were also killed in the pile-up. Cruz and Burnett were traveling inside the pickup truck.

Three other victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. One person was critically injured, but was expected to survive.

Investigations are underway.
