Two workers pinned under 19,000-lb pipe in Little Rock; 1 killed

Little Rock, AR—An industrial accident killed one man and critically injured another at the Welspun Tubular plant in Little Rock. The fatal industrial accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., when a 19,000-pound pipe rolled and pinned the two workers on December 21, 2010, as reported by Arkansas Online.

The Little Rock Police Department reported the 19,000- pound pipe, which measures 5 feet by 60 feet, somehow rolled and pinned the two workers underneath.

Responding emergency crews airlifted one worker, identified as William Durham, 38, of North Little Rock, to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment. Durhamn was reportedly listed in critical condition as of Tuesday night.

The fatally injured worker was identified as a 61-year-old Jacksonville resident. His name is being withheld pending family notification.

U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) officials are expected to arrive at the scene and conduct a full investigation.
