Thornton, CO—An accident at an in-home daycare left a 16-month-old boy dead, after he was run over by a vehicle in the driveway. The fatal accident occurred in the 9000 block of Jackson Street on Friday morning, December 10, 2010, as reported by 9News.

According to officials, the daycare provider, Robyn Miller, 34, apparently didn’t realize that 16-month-old Riley Lawyer was behind the vehicle when Miller began to back out of her driveway. She had reportedly put other children in the car before leaving, and somehow didn’t realize that Riley was not in his car seat.

Miller runs a licensed daycare from her home, with six years of no complaints.

Thornton police officers were called to the scene, where they found Lawyer lying on the driveway, unconscious. Lawyer was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations are underway.
