Farmingdale, NY—A Wyandanch woman severed a part of her arm while using a packaging machine at Brand Packaging Group Inc. The workplace accident occurred around 2:30 p.m., on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the plant located on Price Parkway, as reported by the Long Island Press.

Beatriz Blas, 37, of Wyandanch, somehow got her arm stuck in the packaging machine, and understandably began screaming. A co-worker found Blas, freed her, and then grabbed her severed limb.

Responding emergency crews airlifted the woman to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment. She was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she is currently in stable condition. Medical professionals are currently trying to reattach her arm.

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating the industrial accident.

It is unknown how her arm got in the packaging machine.
