Bozeman, MT—A motorcycle crash on Wednesday afternoon, July 28, 2010, killed the CEO of the Freedom Valu Center gas station and convenience store chain, which also left his wife injured, reports the Chicago Star Tribune. The fatal accident occurred just after 4 p.m., on northbound Bridger Canyon Road.

David B. Erickson, 55, of Lake Shores, Minn., and his wife, Debi, were riding a motorcycle, when it began to drift off the right side of the road and over an embankment, just north of the Bridger Bowl ski area. The motorcycle then hit several rocks before crashing.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, both Erickson and his wife were wearing helmets at the time. Responding emergency crews rushed Erickson to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital where medical professionals pronounced him dead. Erickson’s wife was treated for minor injuries.

The highway patrol does not believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the fatal wreck. A full investigation is underway.
