An 18-wheeler and car crashed in Dodge County, Nebraska killed one person.

Dodge County, NE—A violent collision between a car and a semi-truck left a woman fatally injured on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. The fatal motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred around 8:00 a.m., on U.S. Highway 77 just south of Fremont and the Nebraska Highway 109, as reported by KTIV.

Cedar Bluffs Fire officials reported that a woman who was driving a car southbound on U.S. Highway 77 somehow crossed over into oncoming traffic, where she collided with a tractor-trailer that was traveling northbound on the highway. Saunders County Sheriff officials reported that the weather conditions at the scene of the crash were less than favorable. A thick layer of fog could be seen looming over the scene of the fatal wreck; officials believe the weather likely played a role in the violent collision. Area emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed to the scene, where they discovered the woman was seriously injured. The woman did not survive the crash due to her fatal injuries. It was not reported if she was rushed to an area hospital for treatment before succumbing to her fatal wounds. It is unknown if the driver of the semi was injured as well. Police officials are still conducting a full investigation into the deadly crash.
