Train Accident lawyers alert- An Amtrak train crashed into a Ford Explorer SUV, killing two kids.

Durham, NC—Two children were killed and a woman was seriously injured when an Amtrak train struck their SUV, ejecting both children. The SUV was apparently sitting on the tracks in traffic when the crossing arms lowered near the intersection of Ellis Road and Angier Avenue around 5:19 p.m., as reported by the Herald Sun.

Durham police officials stated the Ford Explorer was on the railroad tracks when the crossing arms lowered and the alarm began to sound to warn drivers of the oncoming train. The SUV was apparently blocked by traffic and could not move off the tracks before being struck. An Amtrak train, carrying 129 passengers, hit the SUV, ejecting the two boys, ages 9 and 6. Both of the young boys were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams. EMS crews rushed the unidentified woman driving the SUV to Duke University Hospital for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries. Thankfully, no one inside the train was injured in the wreck as well. The identities of the victims are currently being withheld pending family notification. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the fatal crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
