Tampa, FL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A five-car vehicle collision on I-75 left one woman dead and several others injured on Saturday, as reported by ABC Action News. According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers, Jeffrey Nicoll Jr, 21, of Hudson, was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile, when he failed to slow down as he approached heavy traffic. Nicoll’s apparently hit the rear-end of a 2001 Toyota Rav-4 SUV, driven by Jason H. Edwards, 40, of Plant City. This rear-end collision caused a chain reaction involving four other cars. A passenger inside Edwards’ Toyota, identified as Rachel D. Edwards, 34, of Plant City, was transported by Tampa area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to Tampa General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The passengers of Nicoll’s SUV, identified as, Kevin Land, 28; Sara Sims, 19; and Jessica Phelps, 20, were all seriously injured and transported to University Community Hospital by EMS personnel for treatment of the injuries they suffered in the fatal motor vehicle collision (MVC). FHP reports also indicate the collision involved three other vehicles, an SUV, a pickup truck, and a van. The passengers and drivers in the three vehicles were reportedly not injured and/or suffered minor injuries. Weather is believed to have played a factor in the multi-vehicle collision.
