Calgary police said they received multiple reports of flash floods after a severe thunderstorm hit the city on Friday night.
The severe thunderstorm warning still exists. Environment Canada stated that storms would cause water to accumulate on roads and produce hail, heavy rain and strong winds the size of a table tennis ball.
The Bureau of Meteorology said that heavy hail can also cause property damage and warned that such storms would produce tornadoes.
These communities also issued warnings:
- Canmore.
- Cresholm.
- Gaohe.
- Kananaskis.
- Okotoks.
At approximately 7:23pm, the storm moved from Longview to near Winfield and moved eastward at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour. The measured speed of wind gusts is up to 120 km/h.
