Escalator Accident at Jersey City Rail Station Injures 5

Jersey City, NJ — An apparent escalator accident injured five people when it suddenly changed directions at the Exchange Place PATH station in Jersey City Monday morning, January 7, 2013, NBC40 revealed.

According to reports, five people were injured and panic ensued after an escalator at the commuter rail station suddenly changed directions.

Officials revealed that the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries, which included back and neck pain, scrapes, bumps, and bruises.

Responding emergency crews transported three people to an area hospital as a precaution.

It is unknown at this time what caused the escalator to change directions.

The identities of the victims are being withheld and investigations are underway.
