San Francisco, CA, Oct. 31, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vedder Price scored a significant victory when a California court ruled in favor of his clients in connection with lawsuits filed against them for failing to provide senior citizens with affordable housing.

Vedder Price represented Melvin Lee, former San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) commissioner, and Teresa Wong, the owner of The Avenue Assisted Living, in the breach of contract and unfair business practice lawsuits brought against them by the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office for breach of contract A 2006 agreement to provide a total of 25 below-market housing units for low-income seniors.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Curtis EA Karnow ruled in favor of the defendants that they had failed to provide affordable housing for senior citizens and concluded that “there is no substantial evidence that the defendants had a authorized person have rejected”.

“The court’s ruling in favor of our clients demonstrates that the claims made against them were without merit and Mr. Lee and Ms. Wong are understandably delighted to be confirmed,” said Vedder Price shareholder Michelle Landry, who led the team. “The widespread allegation that they have withheld low-income housing from needy seniors has done them great damage, both personally and professionally.”

The City and County of San Francisco filed lawsuits against Vedder Price’s clients in 2018, with additional lawsuits alleging failure to submit annual monitoring reports, violations of building codes, and issues related to public nuisance.

In addition to Landry, Vedder Price’s team also included attorneys Mindy Wong and Peter Walrod.
