An anonymous Jane Doe is prosecuted Activision Blizzard, Inc ATVI including sexual harassment, gender discrimination and sexual violence.
Doe claimed a former product manager, Miguel Vega, sexually harassed her at work for years. TechCrunch reported.
Vega also hinted that she would get a raise if she caved in to his sexual advances. Doe escalated her concerns to a manager in 2017 but yielded no results.
Vega later threatened to reveal the intimate photos she sent him over a decade earlier.
By August 2021, a month after California regulators sued the company for gender-based harassment and discrimination, the plaintiff again raised her concerns with Human Resources.
On September 1, 2021, Activision Blizzard ended Vega. Now Doe tried to blame Activision Blizzard for creating a hostile work environment and not protecting them from sexual harassment.
She requested a jury trial, seeking damages, medical expenses, attorneys’ fees and lost earnings.
Lisa Bloom, plaintiff’s attorney, tweeted that her firm represents eight women who allege they were sexually harassed at Activision Blizzard.
For more than a year, Activision Blizzard employees have protested the company’s poor handling of persistent sexual harassment allegations.
CEO Robert Kotick is said to have known about rampant sexual harassment in the company for years failed to act.
microsoft corp MSFT plans to buy the gaming giant for $68.7 billion. If the deal goes through, Kotick will likely step down as CEO.
In June, a committee of independent directors at Activision Blizzard dismissed allegations of senior officials refuting allegations of gender-based harassment.
It acknowledged some substantiated instances of gender-based harassment and denied officials’ awareness and Tolerance to Harassment.
