On October 5, 2022, Muddy Waters director Carson Block claimed in the financial times that Sunrun is “an uneconomical business built on three shaky pillars: the equity history of inflated ‘subscriber values’ and ‘gross/net working capital,’ financing growth through the abuse of tax incentives, and issuance of ABS that could expose RUN to bankruptcy . ”

As a result of this news, Sunrun’s stock price fell $2.42 per share, or 7.94%, to close at $28.05 per share on October 5, 2022.
