raymond dearie, the special master appointed by the district court judge Aileen cannon in which Mar-a-Lago called for outside assistance to review over 11,000 documents found by the former US President Donald Trump’s Florida Residence, court records done on Thursday shown.

What happened: Dearie has enlisted the support of James Orenstein, a former Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York. He said the retired judge has experience with complex case management, privilege checking, warrant proceedings and other matters.

While noting that he himself would not seek additional compensation for performing the special master’s duties, Dearie suggested paying Orenstein at an hourly rate of $500.

He also said that starting Oct. 1, monthly bills will be sent to parties detailing hours worked and expenses to be reimbursed.

“Failure to pay on time is considered a breach of the special master’s order, which may be sanctioned,” Dearie said on the filing.
