PERTH, AUSTRALIA / ACCESSWIRE / September 5, 2022 / Tempus Resources Ltd (“tense” or the “company“) (ASX:TMR)(TSX.V:TMRR)(OTC:TMRRF) announces today with great sadness the sudden death of Non-Executive Director and Geological Consultant Gary Artmont.
Gary was a world renowned exploration geologist with over 40 years experience on projects on 6 continents. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with an honors BSc degree in geology in 1975 and began his career at Union Carbide exploring for tungsten, uranium and base metals throughout western and northern Canada, the United States and Brazil. Gary then worked with Rio Tinto where he was instrumental in defining Sedex-style Vulcan base metal mineralization in the Yukon’s Selywn Basin.
In the 1980’s Gary focused on Australia and South East Asia where he developed reconnaissance programs for Kennecott for tungsten and gold mineralization in Western Australia and New Zealand and completed early stage exploration of the Lihir Island gold deposit.
He has extensive experience in Indonesia where he served as on-site manager for the Mt Muro Gold Project in Central Kalimantan, defining over 1.3 million ounces of gold and the discovery of other gold and diamond deposits in South Kalimantan. From 1989 to 1995, Gary was Chief Geologist for PT Freeport Indonesia where he directed over 120,000 meters of diamond drilling leading to the discovery of the 8 million ounce Wabu gold deposit as well as the first detailed geochemical survey and mapping over the Erstberg mine area resulting in the discovery of the Grasberg deposit culminating in one of the largest gold deposits in the world. During this time, Gary also directed Freeport’s exploration activities in Mexico.
In addition, Gary had extensive project development experience in China, Mongolia, Russia, Eastern Europe and South America.
