Google Teams CVS, Scheduled Providers to Show Appointment Availability

The tech giant announced Thursday that Google will soon allow patients to check the availability of appointments with participating healthcare providers directly from its search page.

The new feature was unveiled at Google’s annual The Check Up health event,Increase appointment availability To the business profile box that appears when a user searches for a doctor or medical institution. Patients will be able to click on an appointment slot, which will redirect them to a third-party partner’s website, meaning they won’t book an appointment through Google itself.

Google has partnered with CVS Health to display appointments at its MinuteClinic locations. The company also works with scheduling providers such as Kyruus and Stericycle Communication Solutions to make appointments with their provider customers.

Google is in the early stages of rolling out the feature and plans to add more partners, Google product manager Jackie DeJesse said in a conference call with reporters. “This is part of our broader collaboration with partners to provide useful healthcare information,” she said.

DeJesse said the appointment availability feature will roll out nationwide within a few weeks.
