Tesla owners mine Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero
This week, two Tesla owners explain How they manipulate cars to mine digital currency. According to Siraj Raval, he connected a graphics processing unit (GPU) to his 2018 Tesla Model 3 in order to mine crypto assets with his car. While the modification to Tesla’s system voided his warranty, LaVar stressed that “it was worth it” and claimed to earn $800 per month in Ethereum (Ethereum) during last year’s ether price highs.
Chris Alessi, an electric car dealer from Wisconsin, started doing the same in 2018.Carman” Working on custom electric cars. “I love electricity. I like to break things and build things. You give me a motor, and I’ll give you a finished product,” Alessi told CNBC on Jan. 8.
Allesi claims that he exploited a power inverter and a Bitmain Antminer S9 and connected them directly to his Tesla Model S battery to mine Bitcoin (bitcoin). Additionally, Allesi also reported that he exploited Tesla’s onboard internal firmware to mine crypto assets like Monero (XMR). “It’s no big deal,” Alessi said in an interview. “I can run the mining program in the browser,” he further said.
EV company Daymak’s EVs are used to mine cryptocurrencies, BMW i8 mines Ethereum
Raval also hacked his Tesla Model 3’s onboard internal firmware to mine cryptocurrencies, a process he noted as the most profitable method other than using the GPU. Allesi and Raval aren’t the only ones thinking of using electric vehicles to mine digital assets. In June this year, Canada-based electric vehicle company Daymak reveal plans launched a Spirit Ability to mine cryptocurrencies.
In January last year, the publication PC Gamer report Simon Byrne’s BMW i8 can mine Ethereum (Ethereum) with battery system. In total, Byrne’s car uses six Nvidia RTX 3080 GPUs to mine the second-largest crypto asset. According to Byrne, he hacked his hybrid-electric BMW i8 with a crypto miner, “just to annoy gamers.”
