After a Missouri judge dismissed a lawsuit by a group of cardiologists, SSM Health got out of the predicament. These experts opposed the revocation of their clinical privileges in the St. Louis system.

Doctors from St. Louis Heart and Vascular sued SSM Health in March, seeking damages of US$50 million, claiming that being barred from access to the largest health system in the region would hinder patient access and cause damage to the doctor’s economy and reputation.

However, Judge Ellen Ribaudo of the St. Louis County Circuit Court concluded that the non-profit SSM Health complied with its charter when signing an exclusive contract with another cardiology group. Therefore, the St. Louis heart and vascular cardiologist is not entitled to relief, and Ribaudo decided on December 31.

This court It was also ruled that the plaintiffs would not suffer major harm because they had medical facilities and privileges in other local hospitals.

Ribaudo further ordered that St. Louis Heart and Vascular must bear all legal costs related to the lawsuit.

Neither SSM Health nor St. Louis Heart and Vascular responded to requests for comment through publications.
