The 100 most influential healthcare leaders are selected each year through the following process:

Nominations are open every year in the second week of June. Applicants must answer three questions: What actions did the nominee take to help improve their organization’s clinical, operational, and financial goals, how they contributed to the innovation culture, and how did the nominee help develop local or national-level policy.

Then post a ballot containing 300 names to vote. Editor’s judgment and research are more important than the voting process, and the senior editors of modern healthcare make the final decision on the ranking.
