Despite the increase in hospitalizations, COVID cases fell for the sixth consecutive day

Official data shows that the number of newly reported Covid-19 cases in the UK has fallen for the sixth consecutive day due to the increase in the number of hospitalizations in England.

The government said that as of 9 am on Monday, the UK had recorded another 24,950 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases, down from the 46,558 reported on July 20.

At the same time, NHS data showed that a total of 5,055 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in the UK on Monday.

This is an increase of 33% from the previous week, the highest level since March 18, but still far below the level of the second wave of pandemics.

Dr. Mike Tildesley, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Modeling Team (Spi-M) who advised the Minister, explained that it would take several weeks for the number of cases in the community to be reflected in the number of hospitalizations.

There is a time lag between infection and admission, which means that regardless of the number of cases, the number of admissions may increase in the next few days.
