VANCOUVER-The British Columbia Wildfire Bureau stated that there are currently 258 wildfires burning in the province.

This is down from the 275 fires reported last Friday and also lower than the approximately 300 fires reported earlier this week.

There were 57 evacuation orders, one less than Friday afternoon, affecting nearly 5,000 properties.

In addition, nearly 16,500 properties are under evacuation alert status, which is more than 1,000 less than the previous day, which means that residents have been told to leave in a short period of time.

There are 3320 firefighters and other personnel extinguishing the blaze, of which 94 are from outside the province.

Public Safety Secretary Mike Farnworth will hold a press conference to welcome the 100 firefighters who arrived in British Columbia from Mexico today.

The Canadian Press report was first published on July 24, 2021.
