The Attorney General said that foreigners were among those arrested for planning to “kill and suppress” senior politicians.

The authorities of Madagascar stated that several “foreign and Madagascar” suspects were arrested on suspicion of a conspiracy to assassinate President Andri La Jolina.

Attorney General Berthine Razafiarivony (Berthine Razafiarivony) said on Thursday that the arrests were made on Tuesday as part of an investigation into “national security attacks.”

Razafiarivony also told reporters that the frustrated conspiracy included “killing and eradicating” senior politicians other than the president.

There is no official confirmation of the nationality of the foreign suspect.

The scope of the plan, or the extent to which it has progressed, is currently unclear.

Rajolina was sworn in as the president of the Indian Ocean island nation in 2019 after a tough election and a challenge from a rival constitutional court.
