Del Mar, California-The horses are grazing and the turf is carefully trimmed.

With the race weekend approaching, Del Mar began to be full of energy on its first opening day since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to track officials, the opening day of the Del Mar Racecourse is expected to be sold out, as approximately 18,000 tickets have been sold and 2,000 workers have increased the capacity to 20,000.

Under normal circumstances, due to slight restrictions, this capacity can accommodate almost twice the number of people.

Delmar Thoroughbred Club President Joe Harper said: “I think people will be more comfortable, and I think everyone will be happy that we are as open as we are now.”

Strangely, officials say that the changes that have taken place due to the pandemic have cultivated more talent in the racecourse than they have seen over the years.

“We made a lot of money from our bets last summer, and this year’s wallet funds for the game will increase by 30%,” Harper said. “So we got a lot of good horses.”
