Officials said the Pennsylvania Department of Health has revised the state’s number of COVID-19 vaccinations after determining that 500,000 doses were double-counted.

The updated number is Friday release There is no explanation, and it reflects that about 60,000 people are added at the same time and are counted as fully vaccinated.

The health department spokesperson stated that the repeated injections are to connect the first and second doses of the vaccine to individual residents. Tell the Associated PressIn the process, the health department is removing duplicate data from providers whose software does not contain unique patient identifiers. The revised version also takes into account the data of some patients who received the first and second doses of vaccines from different providers.

Officials said the new figures better reflect the number of residents in Pennsylvania who received only the first two doses of the vaccine.

As of Friday, Pennsylvania had injected nearly 11.3 million doses, down from 11.8 million doses before the revision was completed. The state counted 5.55 million people vaccinated, and more than 12,400 people were vaccinated every day on a 7-day moving average.

The health department’s revision does not include data for Philadelphia, which is its own vaccine jurisdiction.
