The 25-year-old woman became the first Australian woman to win the Wimbledon women’s singles championship in 41 years.
On Saturday, the world number one Ash Barty defeated Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-3 6-7(4) 6-3 in the final to become 41 The first Australian woman to win the Wimbledon singles championship in recent years.
The 25-year-old Batty won her Virgo Grand Slam at the French Open in 2019. She imitated her idol Evan Guragon, who won her second All England Club title in 1980 .
“I hope I make Evan proud,” Batty said on the court after the awards ceremony. “It’s unbelievable.”
Ten years after winning the women’s singles title at Wimbledon at the age of 15, Batty reached the final on Saturday, winning five of her seven games against Pliskova.
In the first set, she easily led the former world number one player 4-0 with two breaks.
Pliskova appeared at sea against the Australians’ sharp decline in slices and precision shots, but managed to break serve twice to get back into the game. But the third break gave Batty the first set.
The Australian maintained control in the second set and scored a 3-1 lead in the third game, but Pliskova found a higher gear to equalize the score 3-3.
With Batty serving for the game, Pliskova broke serve with a score of 40-0, immediately countered to force the tiebreaker, and then tied the score to 1-1 with her confidence.
The Australian managed to regroup and break serve early to lead the tiebreaker 3-0, which proved to be sufficient.
When Pliskova made a backhand unforced error for the 32nd time in the game, Batty switched her first match point.

The Australian fell to his knees and burst into tears. Later she said that she did not remember what happened on the match point.
“She showed my best side today,” Batty added.
“I’m proud of being able to continue to play at the beginning of the third set. It took me a while to say that I wanted to win this game, but it was better than I thought.
“I didn’t sleep last night… but I felt at home on the court.”
