Chula Vista, California (CNS)-father of two young boys Killed in the fire that destroyed the Chula Vista house The owner of the property is being sued for negligence, claiming that the home is unsafe and improperly maintained.

The lawsuit originated from the fire that killed 5-year-old Gabriel Ezra Suro and 4-year-old Joshua Malachi Suro in a two-story house in Coralwood Court on May 6. The lawsuit alleges that the boys were sleeping in a converted utility room on the first floor of the house when the fire broke out.

The boy’s father, Jesus Suro, was also badly burned in the fire.

In a lawsuit against homeowners Miroslav and Ann Sykora filed in the San Diego High Court on Thursday, Suro requested unspecified damages, saying the property “has many electrical defects and lacks the necessary fire and life safety equipment.”

Sykoras could not be reached immediately for comment.

Officials have not yet announced the cause of the fire.

Suro claimed that the residence did not comply with building codes in all aspects, including building materials, electrical wiring, and access routes.

He claimed that there were no smoke detectors on the first floor of the house, and that the existing smoke detectors were improperly placed.
