Mistakes Roger Federer lost two straight sets at Wimbledon for the first time in 19 years after being cut by the inspiring Hubert Hurkacz.

On the court where he was crowned the King of Grass eight times, Federer suffered one of the most embarrassing failures of his brilliant career.

With a month to go before his 40th birthday, the Swiss superstar was eliminated by the unknown world ranked 18th Polish player 6-3 7-6 6-0.

Waving goodbye to his loyal center court devotees and being asked if this is the case, Federer could not give any specific answers to 2022.

Federer said: “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I must regroup.

“My goal is always the last year, and it’s more to play another Wimbledon tennis tournament. The original goal was to compete last year.

“We always sit down and talk about it because now Wimbledon is obviously over. Then we go from there. Okay, what do I need to do to get a better figure so I can be more competitive?

“I’m really happy that I can do everything I have done here, and I can actually play Wimbledon at the level after everything I have experienced.

“Of course I want to play it again, but at my age, you are never sure what is about to happen. The team and I are actually very happy that I did a quarter.

“I feel very tired. I can go to take a nap now.”
