Quebec City-The first Quebec woman in Canada to receive the COVID-19 vaccine has died.

According to Quebec City public health authorities, 89-year-old Gisele Levesque died peacefully on June 28, accompanied by his family.

The health authorities said in a statement that her death had nothing to do with COVID-19.

Levesque received the first dose of Pfizer’s BioNTech vaccine on December 14 at CHSLD St-Antoine, a long-term care home in Quebec City.

Health authorities said she was the first Canadian to be vaccinated in the country.

The agency described her as a person of hope in the fight against the new coronavirus.
