San Diego firefighters put out a fire in Carmel Valley

San Diego (CNS)-On Sunday, a 7-acre vegetation fire in Carmel Valley was extinguished in about an hour.

Fire officials said the fire started near Carmel Valley Road and Zinnia Hills Place at 3pm on Sunday.

About 60 firefighters from the San Diego Fire and Rescue Department and two helicopters extinguished the fire.

Fire officials said that some nearby houses were threatened for a while, but firefighters tried to prevent the flames from spreading and no houses were damaged.

At 5 pm, the staff were still on the spot to clean up and put out any hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
