Children and adults can share their thoughts on the upgraded Pattison Playground in South Philadelphia at a seminar later this month.

Fairmount Park Conservancy is holding a children’s seminar to investigate what children and adults want to add to the park, and “explore play memory, draw interesting ideas and tell what play is”, According to its website.

The Pattison Playground was funded by a $250,000 grant from the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and a $250,000 matching donation from the Fairmont Park Conservation Association.

Other changes to the park include the transformation of the 5,500-square-foot guardhouse (located at the entrance of the park’s Broad Street and Pattison Avenue) into a welcome center that will have a courtyard, public toilets, and a staffed information center and equipment rental.

The stables in the park will be transformed into a 4,000-square-foot cafe and a 6,700-square-foot event space overlooking Pattison Lagoon.

The entire renovation project was funded from a $3 million grant from the state’s reconstruction aid capital program and $1 million from the city’s capital budget.
