In determining the most suitable state to live in, a survey found that New Jersey was the best.

New Jersey ranks first in WalletHub 2021 “best state to live in” ranking Published on Tuesday.

The personal finance website compares all 50 states according to five main categories: affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety.

Each category is evaluated using 52 different indicators, including housing costs, income growth, education rates, and hospital quality. The highest score a state can get is 100 points, because each of the five categories can get 20 points.

New Jersey tops the annual rankings with a total score of 63.01. The state ranks first in safety, fifth in education and health, and seventh in quality of life. According to the report, New Jersey’s crime rate ranks fourth in the country.

However, the state scored low on its financial status and economy. New Jersey ranks 49th in affordability, leading only California in this category. The state’s economy ranks 32nd in the country.

Pennsylvania was rated as the 10th most livable state with a total score of 59.21. The state is second only to New York in terms of the best quality of life in the United States, and ranked seventh in terms of safety.

The state was also ranked 25th in education and health, 30th in affordability, and 42nd in economics.
