The trial of Linda O’Leary, wife of celebrity businessman Kevin O’Leary, will begin today, and she has been prosecuted for a shipwreck that killed two people.

Three people were injured in the collision on the Lake Joseph in the north of Toronto on the evening of August 24, 2019.

Under the Canadian Shipping Act, Linda O’Leary faces an allegation of negligent operation of the ship.

Her lawyer had previously stated that she was a “cautious” and “experienced” crew member and described the incident as a “terrible tragedy.”

Brian Greenspan said at the time that his client had broken his foot in a car accident and needed surgery.

Gary Portash, 64, from Florida, died at the scene, while Susanna Brito, 48, from Uxbridge, Ontario, died in the hospital a few days later.

The operator of another ship, Richard Ruh of Orchard Park, New York, was also charged for the crash. He was eventually convicted for failing to display the navigation lights After he chose not to challenge the crime.
