OCEANSIIDE-Authorities say a man suspected of firing outside a bar in Oceanside hit a used car parking lot while pursuing police officers at night.

According to Oceanside police, at midnight, customers in the bar saw the man lost his gun and called 911. The police responded to Haunted Head Saloon on Tremont Street. The authorities then received a call saying that at least one shooting had occurred near the bar, but no one was injured.

The police said that when the police arrived at the scene, they heard more gunshots in the area and eventually spotted the man a block away from the Regal Oceanside Cinema on Mission Avenue. Investigators believe that the man only shot into the sky because he was not injured, and said that when they arrived at the scene, the police could still smell the gunpowder in the air.

The police said the police tried to pull the suspect over, but he refused to stop and took off at a speeding speed on the South Coast Highway. The chase lasted only about one minute, and the driver lost control and ran into a car parked at the Anytime 2Buy car dealership in the 1500 block of the South Coast Highway.

The authorities said that after the accident, the man refused to surrender, so the police sent a K-9, which bit the suspect. The man was subsequently treated for the bite and was detained.

Authorities said the suspect will face multiple charges, including evading the police and possessing a gun as a felon.
