The number of COVID cases in the UK surpassed 8,000 for the first time in four months, the mutation in India tripled within one week, and 17 deaths

The number of daily Covid cases in the UK exceeded 8,000 for the first time in four months-as the Indian variant continues to spread.

There were 8,125 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, and 17 people died from the error during the same time period.

The last time there were more than 8,000 cases was on February 26 this year, when it was 8,523.

The number of cases in the UK increased by 7,540 on Wednesday, the highest increase in the number of daily infections since February.

It was followed by an increase of 7,393 yesterday.

Last Thursday, 18 deaths were recorded in 24 hours.

The cases of the Indian variant more than tripled in one week-there were 42,323 confirmed cases of the B.1.617.2 strain this week, up from 12,431 cases a week ago.
