Washington became the latest state in the United States to offer creative ways to encourage COVID vaccination.

The state’s Liquor and Marijuana Board (LCB) said on Monday that they temporarily allow retailers to participate in the “Joints for Jabs” promotion. Adults vaccinated at in-store vaccination clinics can get a joint for free.
The transaction will last until July 12, and only pre-rolled joints will be allowed to be distributed, and other items, such as food, will not be allowed to be distributed.
The LCB subsidy was implemented after a now-expired effort that allowed free alcoholic beverages after a jab last month.
Washington State has made creative efforts to promote vaccination because the rate of vaccination there and across the United States has slowed, triggering a series of interesting promotions.
Several states, including Washington, Maryland, and Ohio, held lottery draws to encourage their residents to draw lots. In fact, Washington will announce its first $250,000 lottery winner on Tuesday night.
Other promotions include giving full scholarships in New York State and Ohio.
This is not the first time Washington State cannabis giveaways have been offered in the United States. A pharmacy in Arizona launched the “Snax for Vaxx” promotion last month, distributing a pre-rolled joint and an edible gummy to those who received free COVID injections.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), currently 51.1% of Washington State residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In contrast, 51.6% of the U.S. population has received at least one injection, which is far below President Joe Biden’s goal of reaching 70% by July 4.
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average number of vaccines vaccinated across the country has dropped sharply in recent weeks, from an average of 3.3 million injections in mid-April to an average of less than 1 million last week.
