COVID cases almost doubled in a week-with the surge of variant infections in India, further suspicions were raised on June 21st Freedom Day.
The latest data released by the government on Tuesday showed that within 24 hours from Monday, there were 6,048 new cases and 13 new deaths.
When the news broke, it was reported that Boris Johnson was weighing whether to postpone the removal of all Covid restrictions in England on June 21.
According to the Guardian, it is understood that Rishi Sunak has stated that he will accept a delay of up to four weeks before the end of the Covid roadmap.
Government ministers will continue to review case and hospitalization data this week, and the final decision will be announced by the prime minister on Monday.
