For companies like Chula Vista Brewery, owner Timothy Parker has been struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic.

Parker said: “The past 15 months have been like a roller coaster-ups and downs-on and off.”

As the restrictions are lifted, Chula Vista City is turning to technology to attract more customers into small businesses, which makes people breathe a sigh of relief.

The city is developing a new mobile application called “Select Chula”. It aims to promote the development of local small businesses and at the same time reward their customers.

Companies can sign up for the program, which will allow customers to earn “Chula Points”, which they can use on the app for other companies.

“This is a great opportunity for people to learn about them when they travel and visit-what is happening in Chula… what we have to provide,” said Parker, who was one of the first to sign up.

According to Mary Casillas Salas, Mayor of Chula Vista, there are about 60 companies registered The goal is to have 100 timely releases.

Salas said: “Our job now is to convey this message to all companies. They and our residents can use this method to register, shop locally, and finally give you some rewards.”

The city will launch the application on June 15.
