HARAMBE PIC auctioned as NFT

Photos of Harambe, the infamous gorilla who was shot dead at the American zoo, are being auctioned as a non-fungible token (NFT) to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his death.

This popular primate was brutally killed on May 28, 2016, when a three-year-old boy fell into his enclosure.

Now, the image of the notorious Harambe enjoying his first day in the fence of the Cincinnati Zoo will be bid for digital ownership.

NFT allows people to obtain ownership of digital content, such as memes, videos, images, or tweets, at a certain price.

According to the auction organizer, after his death triggered a wave of memes, it has been shared more than 5 billion times online.

The legendary portrait of the beloved gorilla was sold as an NFT after the “Disaster Girl” meme was sold for £341,000 and the “Charlie Bites My Finger” video received a whopping £538,000 in auction.
