The 76ers announced Thursday morning that the 76ers fans who poured popcorn on Russell Westbrook when he left the field in the second game were barred from entering the Wells Fargo Center indefinitely.

The team revealed in a statement that the fan chose to pour popcorn on Westbrook when he left the floor with an ankle injury on Wednesday, after he was the season ticket holder.

After investigating the events that took place in the game last night, we determined that the person involved will immediately and effectively revoke their season ticket membership. In addition, he will be banned indefinitely from all activities held at the Wells Fargo Center.

We apologize to Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards for this unacceptable and disrespectful behavior. There is no place in our sports or arena. [Sixers]

Westbrook was greeted with boos almost every time he touched the ball in Philadelphia, but when the unnamed fan angered him, he was receiving enthusiastic applause from the fans. When asked about the incident after the game, Westbrook had no mercy on the assessment of the situation and asked the NBA to send a message.

“To be honest, it’s out of control, especially for me. Disrespect, the fans just want to do what they want to do, it’s in vain.” Westbrook said after the game. “In any other situation, I want to fight for fans who like games and have fun. This is part of the sport, but I understand. Backcourt partner Bradley Beal called the move “disgusting,” while head coach Scott Brooks expressed his desire to see fans banned from sending messages in all NBA games.

This incident was a bad night for the 76ers and their fans. It was a lonely flaw, as the 76ers went to Washington, DC to lead the Wizards 2-0.
