Animal rights protesters blocked McDonald’s warehouses and threatened to supply burgers to 1,300 branches in the UK.
Activists from the Animal Rebellion organization are using “truck and bamboo” to block four distribution centers in Hemel Hempstead, Basingstoke, Coventry and Haywood.
The truck is currently unable to leave the warehouse.
Activists said they hope that McDonald’s will be committed to becoming a completely plant-based food by 2025.
The animal rebel group stated that they intend to stay at the scene for at least 24 hours, thereby causing “serious damage” to McDonald’s supply chain.
James Ozden, spokesperson for the Animal Uprising, told protector The action aims to call on the livestock industry to participate in the global climate crisis.
He said: “The meat and dairy industries are destroying our planet: causing a lot of rainforest deforestation, emitting a lot of greenhouse gases every year, and killing billions of animals.”
“The only sustainable and realistic way to feed tens of billions of people is a plant-based food system. Organic, free-range and “sustainable” animal-based options are not enough.”
