The average price per gallon of self-service gasoline in San Diego County rose by one-tenth of a cent on Saturday to $4.161, after rising by one-tenth of a cent for three consecutive days.

According to data from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price over the past 25 days has risen by 23 points, or 12.3 cents, to the highest level since October 15, 2019.

The average price is 1.2 cents higher than a week ago, 13.8 cents higher than a month ago, and 1.292 dollars higher than a year ago. In the past 122 days, it has risen 112 days, up 81.6 cents and 93.4 cents respectively since the beginning of the year.

Compared to a year ago, the substantial price increase was the result of a sharp drop in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, when driving and demand fell sharply due to permanent orders aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
