Edmonton-Alberta reported another 1,140 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday as the number of hospitalizations dropped for the fourth consecutive day.

These figures were reported in a limited update on the province’s COVID-19 information website, which was delayed by an hour on Sunday.

On Sunday, 647 people were hospitalized, reducing 39 patients.

The hospitalization rate soared to 741 on Wednesday and has since declined.

The number of ICU admissions set a new record for a pandemic in the province on Sunday. Xinxiao said that there are 186 people in the intensive care unit.

At the peak of the second wave, the number of inpatients in the intensive care unit never exceeded 151.

The previous ICU admission record was 178, which was set on Friday.

According to reports, three more deaths from COVID-19 occurred on Wednesday, bringing the total to 2,143.

Approximately 11,858 tests for COVID-19 have been completed, bringing the province’s positive rate to 9.6%.

Almost 42% of Albertans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 7.3% of the population have been fully immunized. The province has administered more than 2.18 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

There are still 22,280 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, but no more than 2,000 cases have been reported in one day for 8 consecutive days.

The Calgary region has almost half of the province’s active cases, at 10,515. There are 5,035 in the Edmonton area and 3,309 in the northern area. The central and southern regions are 2,291 and 1,101 respectively. The region of origin of the 29 cases is unknown.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 194,500 Albertans have recovered from COVID-19.
