One week after the latest conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas announced a ceasefire, Canada will provide US$25 million in humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Funds will be provided through UN agencies and other organizations, of which US$10 million will be used to meet basic needs such as food, housing and water. Another 10 million USD is earmarked for medical and economic infrastructure.

The remaining US$5 million will be used for “peace-building operations to promote the realization of the goal of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East,” the government media said in a statement.

In an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) house The foreign minister, Marc Garneau, aired on Saturday, and the plan aims to address Gaza’s “urgent needs”.

Ganeo told host Chris Hall: “The past few weeks have been heartbreaking.”

According to Reuters, at least 254 Palestinians were killed during the 11-day conflict, one Israeli soldier and 12 civilians were killed in Israel.

End the settlement and accept the two-state solution: Garneau

After the recent outbreak of violence, the Canadian government called for a ceasefire and calm in the region.

Gagno said: “Canada has always been very clear that we support a two-state solution. We also said that Israel has the right to defend itself in the event of indiscriminate rocket attacks.”

“The settlements in the West Bank that have been going on for a long time, the evictions and threats of evictions and demolitions in East Jerusalem must stop.

“These evictions and settlements continue to erode the possibility of our search for a solution, a two-state solution, and we must send a strong signal that they must stop.”

The Federal New Democratic Party asked the government to end military exports to Israel. Government data in 2019 show that Canada sent 13.7 million U.S. dollars of military products and technology to Israel, accounting for only 0.4% of Canada’s total arms exports.

Gano said Canada has checked all permits related to arms exports to ensure that they comply with the country’s obligations under human rights and international law.

Gazans now Start to rebuild The building destroyed by Israeli airstrikes, the Israeli military said it was a military infrastructure against Hamas.

Before the conflict, the United Nations estimated that more than three-quarters of Gaza’s 2 million residents needed humanitarian assistance. Since 2007, Gaza has been blocked by Israel and Egypt.

The United States promised this week that in addition to its earlier aid pledges, it will provide $110 million in humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
