Fort Worth, TX – The Fort Worth car accident lawyers of Eberstein Witherite LLP are sponsoring a virtual canned food drive to benefit the Community Food Bank in Fort Worth. The firm has set up a Go Fund Me account, which is now accepting donations for the cause.

The effort is being made in partnership with the canned food drive currently being hosted by the Fort Worth Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and J. Martin Jacquet Middle School (formerly Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School).

Supporting the Community Food Bank

The mission of the Community Food Bank is to “to fight hunger by providing food, education and resources to hungry families in a dignified, personal and timely manner, directly as a food pantry and as a food bank; without zip code restrictions.” The organization says on its website of tools for dealing with the widespread problem many families have in living in food-insecure environments, “The best preventative health tool is an adequate amount of nutritious food. For people living in poverty, empty cupboards and bare refrigerators are a part of everyday life. This chronic lack of food, combined with a lack of nutrition education and the stress of living in poverty, has kept many of our neighbors in poor health.”

With a broad vision to eradicate hunger among families in North Texas, the non-profit corporation has been in existence for more than 30 years.

Donations are being raised for the food drive for the purchase of items such as canned vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, fruit cups, water, and other resources greatly needed by the Community Food Bank. The collaborative effort between 1-800-CAR-WRECK, Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity and J. Martin Jacquet Middle School to provide additional resources for the food bank will run through October 23. J. Martin Jacquet will host an assembly to celebrate the end of the drive on that day from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The school is on target to raise more than 30,000 canned food items and dry goods for the entire month.

In hopes of exceeding the effort with the support of community partners like 1-800-CAR-WRECK, organizers are hoping the goal will be exceeded with 53,000 canned and/or dry good donations received.
