U.K. – A 4-year-old girl from South Wales has reportedly been kept alive by Viagra after being born with multiple birth defects. The New York Post reported that the young girl is awaiting life-saving surgery and has been taking the erectile dysfunction medication to help with blood circulation.

Cerys Small of Newport was born with a hole in her heart and without a spleen in 2011, and also had digestive system issues. She has reportedly undergone five operations for her health problems so far.

Her mother Kerrie Small is quoted as stating “That Viagra kept her alive for more than four years and now she is well enough to keep going until her next operation…People mostly giggle when they find out what medication she was on. We just laughed, too, when doctors told us — it was a bit of a shock.”

Cerys underwent a lengthy surgery in June that had to be halted due to a stroke risk. The operation has been postponed to next year.
