San Francisco – San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi has had his driver’s license suspended over a failure to report a minor traffic accident. The Associated Press reported that the suspension occurred in February, months following the non-injury accident that took place on October 2.

The other vehicle involved was damaged, but there was no damage reportedly done to the sheriff’s city-owned vehicle.

Kenya Briggs, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department, said in a recent statement that the sheriff and his insurance provider had not been notified by the DMV regarding the suspension, under which he is still allowed to drive for work.

According to a statement from Mirkarimi’s office, no city information was exchanged after the accident. The personal information of the sheriff had been provided to the other driver instead.

The sheriff is reportedly working to resolve the matter.
