New York – A video showing an Uber driver being berated by a New York City police officer has gone viral. As reported by WebProNews, passengers in the vehicle caught the incident on video and subsequently released it on the Internet.

The uploader of the video Sanjay Seth claimed the incident occurred on a recent afternoon in the West side area of Manhattan.

The description of the video says as quoted in the report, “Police abuse of Uber driver in New York City. In an unmarked car, the policeman was allegedly attempting to park without using his blinker at a green light. (His reverse lights weren’t on. Likely double parked without hazards on.) The Uber driver pulled around and gestured that he should use his blinker, casually and non-offensively, and kept driving us. The policeman aggressively pulls up behind us and this is what happens.”

The officer can be heard in the video saying to the driver at some point, “Stop it with your mouth, stop it with your ‘for what sir, for what sir’ – stop it with that [expletive]…I don’t know what [expletive] planet you think we’re on right now.”

The cop also reportedly asked the driver, “how long have you been in this country.”

An investigation into the incident has reportedly been initiated by the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau since the release of the video.
