New York – Actress Lindsay Lohan has filed a lawsuit for defamation against the Fox News Channel and television show host Sean Hannity over comments made about she and her mother. As reported by WebProNews, the lawsuit alleges that Lohan and her mother were accused of abusing drugs together on one of the network’s shows.

According to documents TMZ obtained, the mother and daughter refer to a panel discussion on Hannity’s show where celebrity drug overdoses were being discussed following the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman in 2013. The panel is quoted as stating, while making suggestions on which celebrity might succumb to a drug overdose next “Lindsay Lohan’s mom is doing cocaine with her.”

Fox News is quoted as releasing the statement in response to the smear campaign allegations in the lawsuit, “We will defend this case to the fullest… The remark about which Lindsay and Dina Lohan complain was made on live television by a guest nearly a year ago. We removed the segment from our archives altogether last February and also apologized on-air. At that time, the Lohans did not make any demands for money, and we are surprised they are doing so now.”
