New York, NY—Walk-behind 21” lawnmowers by Honda have been voluntarily recalled by American Honda, Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for laceration hazards that are posed to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on January 15, 2014.

The lawnmowers were recalled after discovering that the engine stop switch can malfunction, which keeps the blade rotating after the handlebar blade control lever is released. This poses a laceration hazard to consumers.

“This recall involves two Honda models and one Columbia brand electric start lawnmowers with Honda engines and 21” cutting blades. The Honda lawnmowers are red and silver (HRR) and red and gray (HRX). Both have “Honda” on the engine cover. The model and serial numbers are located on the certification label that is affixed to the cutter housing deck behind the engine,” the CPSC revealed.

The Honda models and serial numbers included in the recall:

• Model: HRR2169VLA/Serial Number Range: MZCG-8764914—MZCG-8824353

• Model: HRX2174VLA/Serial Number Range: MAGA-2255148—MAGA-2260227

The model and serial numbers included in the Columbia brand include:
