Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas to divorce

Los Angeles – Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are divorcing. As reported by AFP, the couple announced their split Friday saying they had reached the decision “in a loving and friendly manner.”
In a joint statement released by the couple, the actors stated, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years (of) marriage… in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
The pair married in 1996, and have a 17-year-old daughter together. Griffith, who is the daughter of screen legend Tippi Hedren, has requested custody of her.
Griffith has appeared in multiple movies including the 1988 film “Working Girl,” for which she was nominated for an Oscar. Banderas has appeared in films such as the Oscar winning “Philadelphia.”
